The hit came hard.
Joe Flacco was leading a Baltimore Ravens charge downfield when Miami
Dolphin linebacker Kiko Alonso hit him from the blind side knocking off Joe’s
helmet and causing a cut to his left ear. The Ravens Super Bowl MVP quarterback
left the field and didn’t return to the game. He then went through standard league-
mandated concussion testing until he would be allowed to play again later in the
season.
The National Football League is the most financially successful sport in the United
States and continues to grow worldwide. However they have an issue. The issue
was profiled in the movie Concussion a few years back starring Will Smith.
Repeated concussions have been proven to lead to Chronic Traumatic
Encephalophy, more commonly known as CTE.
As the league institutes new rules to help reduce the number of hits to the head and
the development of CTE, players, trainers and coaches are looking for products to
help aid athletes. Search the web and you will see countless articles bestowing the
benefits of Cannabidiol or CBD, in the treatment of many ailments including
concussions and CTE.
But what exactly is CBD and how do you pick the right product?
Cannabidiol—CBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits,
but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the
psychoactivity of THC. ... By “CBD-dominant,” we mean strains or products that
are CBD-rich but have very little THC content. It is derived from the Hemp plant
which is a cousin of the marijuana plant and was discovered for its’ health benefits
in the 1940s.
As we will be selling our products, including CBDs via both an E-Commerce
portal on our website, through retail outlets and via a global sales force, the
business side of the analysis is no easy task. We are in the final stages of readying
our launch and I have spent the past year meeting with some of the largest
manufacturers in the world as well as companies with ties to Arizona.
Once we are comfortable with the medical benefits of the potential supplier, it is
then we need to decide a few other things:
1. What is the company’s current distribution model?
2. Does the company do private labeling?
3. How innovative is the company and are they willing to custom formulate a
product for MedHealthIQ?
4. What are the financial aspects of our deal?
5. Do we need to stock inventory or will they direct ship?
As the CBD industry is still in the early stages of development, many companies
are still figuring out the answers to many of these questions. At the end of the day,
we will decide on a product that accomplishes two very important things.
First, it needs to have the highest quality and the best ability to help professional
athletes who lives depend on optimal health. Second, they need to allow us to
make a fair profit so that we can grow MedHealthIQ to help as many athletes as
possible.
In the end, MedHealthIQ is geared to help all athletes. Whether or are Joe Flacco
and leading your team to a winning season or a middle-aged man conquering a
Spartan Race for the first time, we care about your health.
So here’s to the continued developments of CBD and other products that help you
achieve maximum athletic results and recover properly. After all, just because you
aren’t being paid millions to perform at your highest level, doesn’t make your
well-being any less important that Joe’s.
